Speed-to-Lead Test

Speed to lead is how long your team takes to reply after a buyer asks for a demo. In a Harvard Business Review study of 1.25 million leads, firms that tried to reach a lead within an hour were nearly 7 times as likely to qualify it as firms that tried an hour later. This free test times your reply.

Only replies from your company's own domain count.

What is speed to lead, and why does it matter?

Speed to lead is the time between a buyer asking for a demo and a person on your team getting back to them. Buyers who ask for a demo are usually comparing tools that week, so the first team to answer often gets the first real conversation.

Most teams think they reply faster than they do. The only way to know is to ask the way a buyer does: through your own form, from outside your company, at an ordinary time of day.

02Questions

Speed-to-Lead Test: questions people ask

What is speed to lead?

+

The time between a buyer asking for a demo or a call and a person on your team replying. It's also called lead response time.

What is a good speed to lead?

+

Under an hour. In HBR's study of 1.25 million leads, firms that tried to reach a lead within an hour were nearly 7 times as likely to qualify it as firms that tried an hour later, and over 60 times as likely as firms that waited 24 hours or more.

What is the average lead response time?

+

42 hours among the firms that replied within 30 days, in HBR's audit of 2,241 US companies. 37% replied within an hour, and 23% never replied at all. The audit is from 2011, so test your own team today.

How does the speed-to-lead test work?

+

We email you a one-time address on DemoPage's receive-only mail server. You submit your own demo form with it and press start. We record when mail from your company arrives, telling automatic confirmations from a person writing back, and email you the result.

Why does it need my work email?

+

Only replies from your own company's domain count, and the test address goes only to your inbox. That keeps the test to your own team; it can't be used to time someone else's.

What counts as a reply from a person?

+

Mail from your company's domain that isn't marked as automatic and doesn't come from a no-reply or notifications address. Autoresponders and marketing emails are timed separately.

What do you keep?

+

Your email and first name, and the time, sender, and subject line of the replies, for 30 days. Not the message bodies. We email you the test address and the result, nothing else.

Answer a demo request the second it's made.

DemoPage gives every buyer who asks a live, narrated demo of your real product right away, and hands the warm ones to your team.
