Get lead alerts in Slack.

DemoPage can post lead alerts to one Slack channel. When someone watches your demo, finishes a live demo, or asks for pricing or a follow-up, you see their work email, company, what they saw and asked, and a recap link. Press Add to Slack and pick the channel, or paste an incoming webhook.

Connect with Add to Slack

  1. 1Sign in to your portal and open Where leads go. On the team dashboard, it's on the demo link's card.
  2. 2Press Add to Slack.
  3. 3Slack asks where DemoPage may post. Pick the channel your team watches, like #demo-leads, and press Allow. For a private channel, you have to be in it.
  4. 4Back in DemoPage, the field says Posting to your channel, and a test message appears in that channel.

If your workspace only allows approved apps, Slack sends your admin a request instead. Once they approve it, press Add to Slack again, or paste a webhook as below.

Or paste an incoming webhook

An incoming webhook is a private address that posts into one Slack channel. Making one needs permission to add apps to your Slack workspace; if you don't have it, ask a Slack admin.

  1. 1Open api.slack.com/apps and press Create New App, then From scratch.
  2. 2Name it DemoPage alerts, pick your workspace, and press Create App.
  3. 3Under Features, open Incoming Webhooks and switch Activate Incoming Webhooks on.
  4. 4Press Add New Webhook to Workspace, pick the channel, and press Allow.
  5. 5Copy the webhook address. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
  6. 6In DemoPage, paste it under Slack alerts, press Save, then press Send a test.

What gets posted

  • Someone starts watching your recorded demo: their work email, company, and what they're trying to solve.
  • Someone finishes a live demo: what they saw, the questions they asked and which went to your team, their qualification details, and a recap link.
  • Someone asks for pricing or a follow-up, with their question.
  • Someone asks for a live demo that waits for your approval, with an Approve or Decline link. Slack's link previews never approve anything.
  • A demo made for a lead your CRM sent is ready, and when that lead opens it.
  • Pages the nightly check kept out of demos because they stopped loading as expected.
  • The Monday summary of what buyers asked, unless you turn it off.

The same person sets off each kind of alert at most once a day. A live demo posts when it ends, not when it starts. Email alerts keep working alongside Slack.

Change the channel or turn it off

  • Press Change channel and pick another one; it replaces the old channel. Or paste a different webhook and press Save.
  • Press Turn off, and DemoPage forgets the webhook at once.
  • To remove DemoPage from your workspace too, open Manage apps in Slack and remove the app.

If nothing shows up

  • Press Send a test. It posts a test message and shows what Slack answered.
  • Slack said HTTP 404 or no_service: the webhook was removed in Slack. Connect the channel again.
  • Slack said channel_is_archived: pick another channel.
  • Slack said action_prohibited: a Slack admin limits posting there. Ask them, or pick another channel.
  • Still stuck? Talk to us, and say which channel you picked.

What DemoPage can do in your Slack

  • Post into the one channel you picked. It can't read messages, see other channels, or list the people in your workspace.
  • DemoPage keeps the webhook address and the channel's name, nothing else from Slack; the access token Slack also returns is thrown away. The portal shows the address masked.
  • Alerts carry the visitor's work email, company, and what they said in the demo, so pick a channel for the people who follow up on leads.
