Short answer
Open Where alerts go on the Leads tab, press Send a test under Slack alerts, and read the answer your portal shows. Slack said HTTP 404 (no_service) means the webhook was removed, channel_is_archived means the channel was archived, and action_prohibited means a Slack admin limits posting there. Connect the channel again, pick another channel, or ask your Slack admin.
Read the test
- Posted. Check the channel in Slack: the test worked, and Posting to shows the channel that gets alerts.
- Slack said HTTP 404 (no_service): the webhook was removed or turned off in Slack. Connect the channel again with Change channel, or paste a new webhook after Change.
- An answer with channel_is_archived: the channel was archived. Pick another channel.
- An answer with action_prohibited: a Slack admin limits who can post in that channel. Ask them, or pick another channel.
- Couldn't reach Slack: the test didn't get an answer. Press Send a test again.
- That's enough tests for this hour: Send a test works 6 times an hour.
- No Send a test button: the webhook isn't saved yet. Press Save at the bottom of Where alerts go.
After Add to Slack
- Slack is connected, but the test message didn't post: the channel is saved, but the first message didn't go through. Press Send a test and read its answer.
- Slack wasn't connected: the install was cancelled in Slack. Press Add to Slack again, then Allow.
- That Slack link expired or was started from another account: start again with Add to Slack, in your own portal.
- Slack didn't finish connecting: press Add to Slack again, or paste a webhook instead.
- Add to Slack isn't switched on yet: paste a webhook instead. How do I set this up? shows the steps.
- If your workspace only allows approved apps, Slack sends your admin a request instead of installing. Once they approve DemoPage, press Add to Slack again.
Pasting a webhook
The address has to start with https://hooks.slack.com/services/. Anything else says Paste a Slack incoming webhook, which starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/. Paste it, press Save, then press Send a test.
If the test posts but alerts don't
- The channel gets finished live demos, live demo requests, people watching the recording, and requests for pricing or a follow-up. Demos made for CRM leads and pages kept out of demos post there too.
- A live demo posts when it ends, not when it starts.
- Watching and follow-up alerts post once a day for each visitor. Every finished live demo and every live demo request posts.
- Turn off stops Slack alerts, and email alerts and Latest leads keep working. Pause alerts
- Email works alongside Slack. Alert emails aren't arriving
