How do I set what the guide can open in my demo?

Reviewed

Short answer

After DemoPage reads your site and you confirm your email, open Set what the guide can open, under Guardrails in the setup steps. Every page starts ticked, so untick any page the guide should not open or quote, then press Go live with N pages. The guide opens and quotes only the pages you keep, and anything that would save, send, or pay stays blocked.

Steps

  1. 1Press Guardrails in the setup steps. Set what the guide can open lists the pages DemoPage found on your site, each with a line quoted from it.
  2. 2Untick anything you don't want shown, like careers pages or old blog posts.
  3. 3A group of similar pages, such as your integrations, is one row that says how many pages it holds. The guide opens one of them when a visitor names it.
  4. 4Keep at least one page of its own ticked, like your home or pricing page. A group alone isn't enough, and neither is a presentation, so the go-live button stays greyed out until you do.
  5. 5Press Go live with N pages, above the list.

Good picks

  • Home, product, and feature pages.
  • Your pricing page, so the guide can open it. Price questions still go to your team; see Will the guide tell visitors my prices?
  • Integration and use-case pages buyers ask about.
  • Customer stories, if you're happy for them to be quoted.

What happens when you go live

  • DemoPage loads each page you kept the way a demo will. A page that doesn't load stays out of demos; see Why was a page kept out of my demos?
  • If your sign-up email isn't on your site's domain, your portal says We're checking that you run your site, and your link turns on once our team approves. See Why isn't my demo live yet?
  • To add slides, use Or start from a presentation below the list. They go live together with your pages; see adding a presentation.

After you go live

Your portal then has the tabs Home, Leads, Results, Demo settings, and Plan; see What's in my portal after I go live? Before you share your link, try your demo the way a visitor would.

To change your pages later, open Demo settings and use Update the live demo; see How do I change the pages after my demo is live?
